Happy Donut Day!
This beautiful specimen of a strawberry donut is from Donut Plant. It was delicious. They were out of pistachio donuts so I went with strawberry and vanilla bean.
So yesterday I went to Harlem, yes, Harlem. That is where the Target, Costco, and basically all things good can be found. I have been searching for those freaking Lean Cuisine spinach and artichoke dip things and haven't found them anywhere, but there, in the Target, I found them. Now my freezer is full of 'em. Charlye lives up in that area, so now I need to visit her more often.
I also went to Madison Square Eats with a friend last night and I got these delightful spinach dumplings. Madison Square Eats is this food thing they set up in the middle of 5th Ave and Broadway by the park - it actually closes today, which is sad. My dumplings had this weird blue tinge to it, but the food didn't taste blue so that was good. You know how foods can taste a certain color? Like when Paige was here we had this rhubarb ice cream and it tasted pink. My friend thought I was ridiculous, and I thought he was the most unimaginative human being ever.
Although I will say he had the funniest story - which I must share. We were talking about pets and he said that when he was younger his best friend had a hamster with a tumor. Their little posse thought that they should save the little guy and give it some radiation, as if they were treating cancer. So naturally they put the hamster in the microwave. The hamster was in the microwave for 10 seconds before the mom found out and saved it.
Me: How long did you set the time for?
Him: ....a minute... No one can say for certain if it was the tumor or the microwave, but the hamster died four hours later.
It would be the most sadistic thing if it wasn't the most well intentioned idea from a bunch of little kids. I can't stop laughing thinking about it, which might also make me a twisted individual.
Now I have to go do those rewrites...blerg.
As I was reading this to review your posting... this hamster story made me think of the post you did about Psycho's and just a warning things are falling into place. I am scared...
