Three freaking times.
It's summer in New York and most apartments don't have central air conditioning. My last apartment had a window unit, but this one does not, and while I have four windows, none of them are great for an AC. So I bought a portable AC.
Dealing with this portable has been like dealing with a newborn.
The first night was awful. I had to rock it and change it to keep it from crying. And it cries every two hours when the water is full. And finding a place for it to stay was obnoxious. The kitchen was too far away, Julia's room didn't work, and I couldn't put it in the living room, because I don't want my front window facing the street open at night. So now baby Wall-E is sleeping next to me. I did not sleep at all that first night and I was so close to tears.
Paige and Jeff came over, they had bought the same unit for their apartment. They were like "We love ours! We never have to change the water! It's fabulous!" It's like I got stuck with the colicky baby and they got this angelic one.
I worry about my AC. I lie awake at night thinking about Wall-E. I worry how to drain it while allowing me to sleep. I worry about my drain bucket getting too full and flooding my floor. When changing it I spilled a little bit of water on my floor. I cleaned it up, but this still happened...
Wall-E peed on my floor, and now the flooring is warping and breaking. My super came over and pointed to Wall-E saying "That's your problem. It must be leaky. You need to get a rug to prevent this from happening again." He said he'd come over with his boss to fix it, but that still hasn't happened.
But he said my Wall-E was the problem. He doesn't even know. Wall-E has incontinence, but it's not like he directly pees on the floor. He has a pan, and it was MY fault that the water spilled. Not Wall-E's. My baby doesn't have the problem his floor is just old and probably needed new glue anyway.
Wall-E is a couple weeks old, and while the kinks haven't been completely straightened out things are getting better. I've learned how to deal with his needs, and in turn he keeps the temperature comfortable.
That's my little guy. Isn't he precious?
Sometimes I set the remote timer so he puts himself to sleep and I don't have to. But sometimes I hear it go off and I say "Nigh, nigh Wall-E."
I'M INSANE.
He might be a little needy but it is because he is working so hard. But yeah, he does know how to get attention to be sure. The plus is he kept us cool and entertained. I enjoyed meeting him.
