But let's catch up:
Signed up for classes for next semester: Short form comedy writing, Writing for TV II, Politics and Journalism, and Media Moguls of the 20th Century.
Last week I had to meet with two of my professors. For some reason this semester each professor wants to have a one on one conference (I have another one tomorrow). So the conference was in regards to our last speech, the persuasive speech. He sent us 109 topics, and all of them sucked. I don't want to talk about heavy subjects. And that's what he wants. He wants us to be passionate about something, whereas I believe in keeping strong political opinions to yourself. The conference started pleasantly, and then word vomit came and I said I thought all of his topics sucked. This lead to condescension on his part, and me not putting up with it. I chose the topic of maternity leave (not on his list) and we ended up having an hour argument over the topic with him getting all up in my face and me becoming extremely defensive. And him being like "I don't understand why you're getting like this," and me saying "Because I don't like your tone!"
Ridic. It ended fine with him being like "Miss Hogan, that was fun!"
Right after I had a meeting with my literary professor. That was lovely. We had a wonderful time discussing literature and laughing. She's a good friend of my academic advisor. It was peachy.
On Friday I saw Ivanov and Ethan Hawke was the lead. Spit was flying from his mouth all over. It was spectacular. The head guy from my play thing this summer was there and he said I need to come back this summer and help mentor the new couple of playwrights...which could be interesting.
My Christmas Tree:
My Christmas Tree:
I also went to Alice's Tea Cup this weekend with Paige and Becca - that was delightful. Best burger ever. They dipped the mushrooms and onions in a mix of herbs and tea and it was a lovely flavor.
Today I went to a lecture by Paul Lee, who is the president of ABC Entertainment. It was so interesting, we also got to see future clips of Modern Family. Ugh, but there was a Q&A and this one girl raises her hand and is like "What would you say to someone who wants to work in television, but isn't exactly sure what she would want to do in that field? She's passionate, but how should she get her big start?"
My reaction:
Seriously? Like why are you here?
Then I am waiting for the subway to go home and this girl comes up to this boy, they greet as they are friends, and then they start wildly making out.
I couldn't hold it in. I said out loud "Are you freaking kidding me?" So gross.
Then on the subway, this crazy guy gets on and he starts serenading this one chick (fine) but then starts dancing on a pole. It was amusing. But then he starts going into how he's 54 and is with a 22 year old and she has a 25 year old friend and....well then details get explicit. So explicit I was blushing and becoming extremely uncomfortable. The worst part? The express train was making local stops because of another train accident, so I was stuck on there for a long time.
Finally, FINALLY, it's my stop, and as I get up to leave he's by the door, and he turns to me and is like "Ooo hey gorgeous. Don't worry, I like white girls too! Especially someone as fine as yourself."
My reaction:
PS: Do you love the new layout? Paige did it.
