Thanksgiving

It was SO nice being home in North Carolina. Here's what happened:

Wednesday:
Paige and I flew home that evening. On the flight we were seated in the emergency exit row. I decided to dub myself as emergency captain, and Paige was secretary/treasurer. She couldn't handle being captain. A captain would not bump their head on the overhead compartment like she did. There was this really obnoxious couple, and the girl was going to her boyfriend's house for Thanksgiving. Every time they went overboard with PDA I loudly went "Boo!" Just doing my job. I decided being emergency captain is like being a bishop - during your time you hold all the responsibilities, but once you've been released you still have the title.

As we left the plane I was waiting for my bag and I had this horrible "Oh no where's my license?" moment. It wasn't it my pocket like I thought it would be, and then the pocket in my luggage was completely open. I then searched through my bag and no license. By this point Paige is sprinting outside to meet Jeff so I couldn't turn back. My license was gone, and the DMV wouldn't be open at all while I was home.

We then went to Rey's and I met Abuelita Santos for the first time. She was adorable. I outlined my bakery business model to my parents (teehee), and it was a lovely dinner.

Thursday:
I woke up, went downstairs and the father figure said "You can go to the airport, they have your license." He called all over to track that thing down, and just that morning my license was in Atlanta. I was so grateful. The woman at the airport didn't even question who I was, she had it sitting next to her.

That night we went to Best Buy for Black Friday. We waited outside in line for a half hour. I had no intention to buy anything, but then each season of Sex and the City was on sale for $8, so I had to... I also made a horrible line decision, and was stuck in line with Paige and Jeff for about an hour, while Maigan and Bryan kept coming in and out of the store because they got in the express line. We were stuck in our line with no way of backing out.

Friday:
Turns out Abuelita has a parrot named Lolo. The father figure has some unresolved issues towards the bird. Lolo is almost 30, can speak, and Abuelita even talked on the phone with it. This parrot can actually converse. Apparently Lolo is sad and doesn't eat while she's gone. His stepfather said that he might have to go put on one of her dresses to get it to eat. Lolo also tells you what it wants for breakfast which is normally like mango and coffee and calls Abuelita Mama. I want to go to Guatemala just to see this giant talking parrot.

I also got sick. Sore throat, fever, aches, shivers, all things gross. As I'm dying on the couch mom tried to help me. She found these throat lozenges that were probably older than I am, and she could barely get them out of the container because they were so sticky and old.

Saturday:
My fever broke that afternoon, which was gross. But that made me well enough to eat Christmas Cookie Blue Bell, eat Red Robin, and go see Argo, which was a fabulous movie.

Sunday:
Mom made donuts that were delightful. Paige and I went back to NYC and on the flight there was this woman and this guy who talked the whole plane ride. Because I was right next to them, I heard the whole conversation. This woman just broke up with her boyfriend that she's been living with for the past five months the night before, and she's not leaving for New Hampshire. The woman is in her early 40s and she's telling her life story to a 21 year old NYU computer science student. Ridic.

Got home and watched Liz and Dick. AND I LOVED IT.
