An Apple Crumb Zombie Run

Lately I've been feeling apathetic towards running. I go running, but I'm quick to burn out and I'm unmotivated. I think I pushed myself really hard over the summer, and now I'm burnt out.

I did my five mile treadmill run yesterday - mixing it up with hills, tabata, and a few minutes of walking. Painful. And then I was reading in Cosmo about this app Zombies, Run! which puts you as this character Runner 5, and you have to complete missions and run away from the zombies. I'm not a big fan of zombie things, because I think it's stupid, but I decided to get the app, because it had such great reviews.

After I finished my first mission this is how I felt:
Mission Completion!

I guess each mission is roughly 30 minutes, and I only did one today, but it was probably one of my most favorite runs. It's a gorgeous fall day, so I ran through Central Park - I would have taken pictures, but I was being chased by zombies.

So I guess as Runner 5 you were just in a plane crash, and there's like a zombie apocalypse and you're spotted by this radio guy and his base camp. He's British, endearing, and his name is Sam. You upload your running music playlist, and it's added with your mission story. It felt like running with my British GPS Daniel, which is pretty awesome.

The beginning story was pretty intense, and the first song to come on after they're like "Run!" ? Freaking Chicago's "You're the Inspiration."

In between songs the story continues, you collect supplies, etc. Sam old girlfriend was Runner 5 - she turned into a zombie. And he's like "So...I guess you can be the new one...she was so amazing..." I'm like this is so awkward. And later his stupid girlfriend ran after me.

I highly recommend.

Afterwards I stopped at Dean and Deluca (I haven't gone there since July) and got an apple crumb muffin. Delicious.
